There’s No Place Like Home: a custom install
Sometimes our custom sound solutions go beyond helping you love your music. From setting up your first home stereo to creating a relaxing ambiance for every room at your favourite restaurant, we work with homes and business spaces of all kinds. What if the business space *is* a home?
Recently we were contacted by a local care facility to find a sound system that could bring music to their (large) dining room, boost audio for presentations and slideshows, and help amplify a rather quiet-speaking announcer on the popular bingo night. While every project has its unique qualities, there’s something extra special about this one.
We can have some pretty strong connections when it comes to music, whether it’s memories of attending a live performance to that time you hooked up a stereo in your first apartment. Many of the people we encounter in our soundrooms have music as an integral part of daily life. So when we were asked by The Hamlets at Vernon to help bring a sense of home to their residents’ mealtimes – well, it struck a chord.
“This year my mom moved into a care facility”, says Jeannette. She’s been part of the HiFi crew for about a year and runs our Vernon soundroom. “Having the chance to work with the team at The Hamlets really meant something for me. At home there was always music playing and it’s definitely missing from my mom’s daily life right now. I might not be able to bring music to my mom where she is, but I can help bring music to the residents here. And I know my mom would love that.”
It’s the little things that can transform a place into feeling more like home. We hope we brought some of that feeling to the residents (and staff) at The Hamlets. Now, how to wrangle an invitation to one of those bingo nights…
