Industry News: Harry’s Hi-Fi

Last week, the Canadian hifi world took a collective deep breath as we all processed the news: Vern Sotropa of Harry’s Hi-Fi had passed away.

Vern – or “Harry” as the hifi world knew him – was one of the longtimers in this industry and many have a story (or six) to share. He had a personality that left an indelible mark on the world around him, including the countless people who crossed the threshold of Harry’s Hi-Fi. Since 1983, Harry’s has been the place to go in Regina. “We don’t sell crap” might be our favourite statement. They’re known for creating a welcoming and inviting environment.

We’re sending our deepest condolences to Pat and family on a profound loss. A person can be measured in how their spirit carries on through those they have touched; we hope that Pat and family are comforted by the many people who carry Harry’s spirit and are able to find some solace in the sharing of irreplaceable memories.

The next vinyl we spin is for you, Harry. Thanks for keeping it real.
