Art & Audio: Steve Austin at HiFi Vernon
As a small business, we do what we can to support other small businesses. So when neighbour Steve Austin decided to close the doors to his Kelowna gallery, we decided to offer up our wall space to his stunning photography. Why? Because we love the Okanagan community for its inter-connectedness, and we love art.
About The Artist
Steve Austin has 20+ years of experience as a professional photographer — though his interest in the medium dates back nearly as far as he can recall, Steve was 10 years old when he used his first camera. It was an old polaroid instamatic he received as a gift, and from there knew was hooked.
Steve grew up in Edmonton, Alberta, and studied fine arts at the Alberta College of Art and then moved his education to the New York Institute of Photography to refine his skills. Steve is now based in British Columbia’s picturesque Okanagan Valley where he has his focus on capturing fine art landscape and still life, often featuring environmentally sensitive habitats.
Interest in Steve‘s work has been growing steadily in Canada and internationally, and he received the designation of Master Photographer in Fine Art. Steve has partnered with the Nature Conservancy of Canada and The David Suzuki Foundation, in which he donates a portion of his print sales.
Steve Austin’s photography is available to view in person at our Vernon soundroom.
